Who is MountainTrue?
In January 2015, the merger of three prominent environmental and conservation nonprofits in Western North Carolina led to the formation of MountainTrue. This collective effort brought together the Environmental and Conservation Organization, the Jackson-Macon Conservation Alliance, and the Western North Carolina Alliance.
What is their mission?
MountainTrue champions resilient forests, clean waters, and healthy communities in the Southern Blue Ridge. Through advocacy and hands-on volunteer efforts, they work to protect forests, restore waterways, and preserve the region's natural beauty for future generations.

What's their impact?
MountainTrue makes a difference through water quality protection, forest conservation, and community engagement. Volunteers play a key role in restoring natural spaces, from cleaning up rivers to preserving forests. Their advocacy and partnerships drive lasting environmental change, ensuring a healthier Southern Blue Ridge for all.

As part of its mission to protect and restore Western North Carolina's natural resources, MountainTrue collaborates with organizations like the Arbor Day Foundation to expand reforestation efforts, promote sustainable land management, and enhance urban tree canopies. Through tree-planting initiatives and community-driven conservation projects, this partnership helps combat climate change, improve air and water quality, and foster healthier ecosystems. By working together, MountainTrue and the Arbor Day Foundation empower local communities to make a lasting impact on the environment
